Kaş is a charming small town perched on a rocky headland above the Mediterranean, with views stretching across to the Greek island of Kastellorizo. It is renowned as Turkey's premier diving destination and combines ancient Lycian history with a relaxed, bohemian atmosphere.
Kaş is approximately 135–145 kilometres from Dalaman Airport. The journey by private transfer takes around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours along one of Turkey's most spectacular coastal roads.
Kaş has more certified dive centres per capita than almost anywhere else in Turkey. The underwater visibility is exceptional, and the sea floor features ancient amphora fields, sunken Lycian sarcophagi, and rich marine life. Popular dive sites include the Uçağız Wreck and the Aquarium near Kaş harbour.
Kaş sits on the site of the ancient Lycian city of Antiphellos. A well-preserved Hellenistic theatre sits just above the town, and several Lycian rock tombs and sarcophagi are found scattered throughout the streets.
A short boat trip from Kaş leads to the Kekova Island, where a sunken ancient city lies just below the surface of the sea. Visitors can view the ruins through glass-bottomed boats or by snorkelling.
